Positron Emission Tomograph

Ugm Medical Systems, Inc.

Positron Emission Tomograph positron scanner is a medical imaging deviceused to map and display 3-D radioisotope distributions after theradioisotope is injected into a patient. The medical images can bedisplayed as multiple transverse section images (up to 60 images perpatient) and can be resliced in realtime into sagittal or coronal views. In some applications, it is helpful to view the data as a rotatingsurface display for better 3-D feature extraction.Positron Emission Tomograph positron scanner uses a hexagonalarrangement of six position-sensitive scintillation detectors, whichdetect the gamma radiation following positron annihilation. The factthat the detectors are continuously position-sensitive gives the scannerthe unique ability to image the distribution with equal spatialresolution and fine spatial sampling in all three dimensions.
